Revive Active win against Milltown
Last Sunday our Revive Active Leinster Fourball team were in action
In the third round of the competition against Milltown.
First out in Milltown were the formidable pairing of Jacinta Deane and Joyce Kirwan. The standard of golf was fantastic and Jacinta and Joyce dominated from the start. They sealed the win at the par 5 15th hole securing a valuable away point for the team.
Next out were Iris Haughton and Orla Delaney. The game was very competitive and closely contested. Iris and Orla were 1 down going up the 17th and the Milltown ladies won the hole to secure the win.
An anxious wait followed as Iris and Orla were the nominated pair in the event of a tie at 2 all. We all breathed a collective sigh of relief when the news came through that both matches were won in Greystones. A fantastic result 3-1

Old Conna Seniors 3 in a row dream goes on
On a beautiful sunny afternoon our Old Conna Seniors team were up against Kilmashogue, a repeat of the 1st round match last year which was a very closely fought match. Managed by Dermot Whiston and Pete Murray the following team was picked:
- Pete Murray and Joe Grennan
- Keith Stewart and Colin Watchorn
- Andy Nolan and Jerry Teehan
- Chuck Tarter and Brian O’Connor
- Tom Creed and Michael Bolton
- Michael Whelan and John Burke
The format is fourball stableford with the five best cards making up the teams total and then the away side are awarded 5 extra points.
All our pairs got off to decent starts through the first few holes while some of the visitors struggled to get going. Things were looking good at the turn with one of our pairs on 26 points after nine holes. However no chickens were being counted yet. As the rounds came to an end Greystones built up a healthy lead of 16 points from the first two groups. This was reduced by 4 by Kilmashogue’s 3rd pair but from there on Greystones’ lead grew.
In the final count up the result was 214 – 202 (including the 5 point bonus)
The scores were as follows:
- Pete and Joe 44 pts
- Colin and Keith 48 pts
- Andy and Jerry 40 pts
- Chuck and Brian 40 pts
- Michael and Tom 41 pts
- Michael and John 41 pts.
Congratulations to the team and you can put the 19th August in your diary for finals day in Old Conna where Greystones are going for 3 in a row which has not been done before in 25 years of this competition.
