Congratulations Isabella!!

Congratulations to our past girls Captain Isabella Stewart who has been awarded a golf and academic scholarship to Seton Hall University in New Jersey which commences in the autumn of 2025.

Isabella plans to study Quantitative Economics and Econometrics as well as play Division 1 golf in the Big East Conference.

Isabella has been a junior member since 2019 and has continued to improve under the guidance of the then junior girls convenor Iris Haughton and then assistant pro Barry Davis. Isabella always had her sights set on going to the US to play collegiate and she is determined to do everyone proud.

Congratulations again to Isabella, her parents and everyone who has helped her on the journey so far.

Toby Murphy was on the U-16 team who also finished 1st and Ruadhan Murray represented the U-14 boys as they also topped their category.

Leinster U-18 Boys finished 4th with both Dylan Holmes and Will O’Riordan on the team.

Congratulations to all from Greystones GC on  representing their province.

On Friday our Captains hosted the Annual Visiting Captains day. Nine local clubs were represented on the day. The teams were made up of visiting Captains, Captains Mark and Ciara along with representatives from the ladies and men’s committees and Council.

After a light lunch an 18 hole champagne scramble took place followed by a lovely meal provided by Ali.

All the visitors were very complimentary about the course and welcome they received.

Captains Ciara and Mark would like to extend their gratitude to Jim and Jenny in the office, Davey and his team in the pro shop, Paul and the bar staff and Ali, Olivia and Liz in the restaurant for all their work on making the day go so well.

Senior Men’s Home Internationals Day 3

Day 3 saw Ireland up against England and on a tough morning England won all 3 foursomes matches. Alan Condren and his partner David Mulholland lost their match 4 & 3 to Stuart Brown and Kevin Parkes. The other two foursomes matches were lost 1 down and 5 & 3.

So a mountain to climb in the afternoon singles. In the afternoon Alan was playing against Ian Ashenden. In a very tight match where there was never more than two holes in the difference Alan eventually won his point with a one up victory. Alan’s foursomes partner also won his match along with Steve Graham. However it was not enough to overhaul the lead England had established in the morning foursomes.

It meant England won the mens section while the Irish ladies won their section.

England were the victors overall in the combined standings.

Congratulations to Alan on a great performance overall winning 5 points from 6 matches.

The scoring from the whole competition can be viewed on the below link.

Senior Home Internationals Day 2

On day 2 Alan Condren was again paired with David Mulholland for their match against the Welsh pairing of Mike White and Chris Dinsdale. The Irish pair won their match 4 & 2 but unfortunately Ireland lost their other two foursomes matches this morning so are 2-1 down heading into the afternoon singles.

Alan Condren took on Alan Jones in the afternoon singles and again recorded another win by the margin of 6 & 5 to pick up his fourth point from four matches. Singles wins by Tony Cleary, Karl Bornenann and David Mulholland gave Ireland a 4-2 winning margin in the singles and an overall victory over Wales by 5-4 on the day.

Tomorrow brings another match, this time against England who have also won both previous matches. Alan is again paired with David Mulholland in the morning foursomes and they are up against the English pairing of Stuart Brown and Kevin Parkes.

Scoring can be followed on the below link.
