Another good performance from our junior section this week with Toby Murphy finishing tied 8th today in the Ulster Under-14 Boys Open Championship which was played in Ballycastle Golf Club today.

Well done to our Junior boys in Leinster Under 16’s
Four of our junior boys traveled to Mullingar this week to compete in the Leinster Boys ( U16s ).
Jamie Anderson shot 5 over on Thursday with Dylan Holmes shooting one worse at +6, both making the cut. Unfortunately William O’Riordan and Toby Murphy missed the cut (Toby by a single shot).
On Wednesday Jamie again played some solid golf and maintained his form, shooting a very creditable six over par to finish on +11 and in 23rd place overall in a strong 125 man field.
Dylan had been disappointed with his first round and dug deep on day two to shoot a level par 70, a round that was only bettered on the day by the eventual event winner, Michael Wilson from Massereene Golf Club. Dylan’s score moved him up from 25th after day one to 7th place overall.

Congratulations to our Girls Captain, Mia Walsh and her two team mates, Lilly and Joanna who came second overall in the Leinster Golf Championships which took place in Rathfarnham earlier this month.
Irish Schools Junior Girls championship
Well done to Shauna, Grace, Stella, Isabella and Sophie competing in the Irish Schools Junior Girls championship last week. Special congratulations to Shauna on finishing 6th. 49 girls played from other clubs in Leinster. Well done all!

Junior Quiz Night
On Friday last we had our Quiz night in support of the Junior section. The evening was very well attended and enjoy by all 16 or so teams that participated. A big thanks to Conor Fleetwood and Cormac O’Byrne for a very entertaining, interesting and fun quiz. A special thanks to everyone who sponsored the Quiz and Raffle prizes – Medfit Proactive Healthcare, Just Eat, Amanda, Barry, Davie, Eddie, Karl and Philip.

Leinster U15 – Winners Malahide
Greystones U15 squad came out second best to a very strong Malahide U-15 team in the 2021 Leinster U15 final. Both sides place really good golf over the two 5-match legs, with Malahide proving to be the stronger side and a deserving winner. It is worth noting that none of their squad are available for next year, whereas five of our squad will be itching to have a go once again next year, and hopefully go one step further.

Leinster U-15 Final on 3rd October
This Sunday at 1pm our Under 15 squad take on Malahide in the final of the Leinster U-15 . It will be play over two weekends – with 5 matches at home on 3rd October and 5 matches away on 17th October. All support would be very much appreciated – it promises to be an exciting afternoon of great golf.

U15 v Esker Hills on Sunday 12th September
This Sunday our U15 team take on Esker Hills in the semi final of the Leinster U-15. We have 3 matches at home and 2 away, starting at 2pm. It is likely that we will be giving shots, so we will have quite a battle on our hands – all support will be is greatly appreciated. We wish the squad every success.
Dates of Boys’ Majors
We are very pleased to be able confirm the following dates for the Junior Boys annual majors:
- 17th July: PGA Professional’s prize
- 7th August: Captain’s prize
- 28th August: President’s prize
A few points of note:
- In order to be eligible to win a prize, you need to have played in three prior Saturday competitions
- The entrance fee is €5 to help cover the cost of the prizes.
- Depending in Covid restrictions of the day, it may not be possible to congregate in the club-house and if that is the case, prize giving will more than likely to have to be done outside.
