Top four finish for William in Munster

Many congratulations to the highly talented William O’Riordan, who today secured a top four finish in the Munster Under 16 Boy’s Amateur Open. This event was hosted by Newcastle West Golf Club with 105 entrants. William’s round of 72 placed him in joint fourth, an excellent performance by the Greystones man, just two shots off the winning score by Balinalsoe’s Isaac Oliver.

Isabella heads off to Orlando

We wish “Bon Voyage” to our Junior Girls Captain, Isabella Stewart who is heading for sunnier climates tomorrow.

Isabella is travelling to the Henry Brundon Golf Academy in Orlando where she will spend three months honing her game as part of her transition year program.

No doubt her already excellent game will be even better on her return.

Junior Boys & Girls Spring Coaching – 18 February 2023

Please see link to this weeks coaching for our Junior Reds and Whites from 1pm in the Driving Range this Saturday. Please note the times – Reds at 1pm followed by two Whites sessions at 2pm and 3pm. Parents roster also attached.

Junior Driving Range Coaching – Feb and Mar 2023

Please note there will be no Blues coaching this Saturday – this will start next Saturday, 25 February.

For the Reds, it is just sign-in which needs to be managed, however please note the following for the two Whites sessions:

We need to have one parent in the shop at the Driving Range when the boys and girls arrive. This parent needs to check the child is on the roster for that day/session, help to get the money paid and the child out of the shop and down to the bays at the end of the range. The same parent gets all of the children back into the shop and signs them out as they are collected at the end of the session. We need to ask the parents to come in with the child at the start and to come into the shop to collect them at the end of the session. We have to be mindful that the Driving Range is not part of GGC is and is a private business running as a standalone commercial business, so we cannot allow the boys and girls to leave the Driving Range unaccompanied under any circumstances.

The other 3 parents are required at the bays with each monitoring two/three bays. Essentially they just need to ensure:

  • the children are not running up and down between bays and running off down to the shop;
  • when a child is hitting a shot the other child stands out of the bay;
  • the children do not leave the front of the bay to retrieve a ball on the gravel/grass in the front of the bay;
  • if a child needs the bathroom the “signing in” parent goes with them and waits in the shop. We just need to ensure the child comes back into the range; and
  • at the end of the session all the children are brought back into the shop and wait to be collected.

Thank you,

The Junior Committee
