Our JB Carr team is back in action this Friday at 3:00 PM with a home fixture against Woodbrook. All matches will be played at home, setting the stage for what should be a competitive and enjoyable afternoon of golf.

Our Best Cup team are in action this Thursday as they take on Deer Park in the opening round of the competition.
The format sees three matches played away and two at home, with Greystones aiming to get off to a strong start. It promises to be a tightly contested match, with both clubs fielding competitive sides.

It was a fantastic Sunday for Greystones Golf Club, with two teams in action and two brilliant results to show for it.
First out was the JB Carr team, managed by John Kinsella and Pat O’Neill, who took on Bray. It was a strong performance across the board, with Greystones coming away with a well-earned 3.5 to 1.5 win. Their first of the group stage. A great result for the team as they look ahead to the rest of the competition.
Later in the day, the Irish Mixed Fourball team, managed by Rita and Tony Bishop faced off against Dun Laoghaire. With two matches played at home and two away, there was everything to play for. At home, Jonathan & Joyce Kirwan and Mark McAleer & Grace Dodd flew the flag, while the away team featured Niall Stokes & Sandra Cotter and Cathal Cooney & Orla Delaney.
After four tightly contested matches, the match was level at 2–2. That meant a playoff was needed. Jonathan and Joyce Kirwan stepped up. In a tense finish, they secured the win for Greystones on the second playoff hole.
A huge well done to all the players and management involved in both matches. Two great results.
It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting weekend at the club, with two of our teams in action this Sunday. Both the JB Carr and Irish Mixed Fourball teams will be representing the club in important matches. We wish them the very best of luck.

At 14:00, our Irish Mixed Fourball team will take on Dun Laoghaire in what promises to be a tightly contested match. This format features two matches played at home and two away.

Our Super Seniors got their season off to a fantastic start with a hard-fought 3-2 victory away at Wicklow Golf Club. Facing a strong home side, the team showed great determination to secure the win.
A special mention to Ray and Pat for their contributions, along with the entire squad, who played their part in a great team performance.
Greystones took on Dun Laoghaire in the latest round of the Fitzgibbon Cup last Sunday, with matches played both at home and away. In a closely contested fixture, both teams secured three wins each, resulting in a 3-3 draw.
Chris Boylan and Colm O’Neill were up first at home and put in a strong effort in a competitive match. Their opponents came out strong, winning holes 1 and 2 to take an early lead. A quick response from Greystones saw them claim holes 3 and 4, bringing the match back to all square. As the front nine progressed, both sides settled into a rhythm, with the Greystones pair keeping things close through the turn. On the back nine, Boylan and O’Neill picked up a win on hole 11, but their opponents capitalised on key moments, winning holes 13, 14 and 16. Despite battling to halve multiple holes, the match concluded on the 16th, with Dun Laoghaire taking the win 3&2.
Barry O’Leary and Alan Byrne were up next and started strongly with wins on holes 1 and 3, setting the tone for a controlled performance. Their dominance continued as they claimed holes 8, 10, and 12, building a solid lead. Dun Laoghaire responded with a win on 13, but the Greystones pair kept their composure, adding another victory on hole 15. With the match firmly in their hands, they saw it out by halving hole 16, sealing a 2&1 victory.
Collie Dunne and Shane O’Neill were the final home pairing out and found themselves trailing early after losing hole 1, but they bounced back with a quick response to win the 2nd. The match was a tight one as Greystones walked down the laneway all square. Collie and Shane made a strong start to the back nine, winning holes 11, 13 and 15 to take a commanding 3-up lead with just three to play. However, Dun Laoghaire refused to go down without a fight, mounting a late comeback with wins on 16 and 17 to cut the deficit to just one. With the match hanging in the balance, the Greystones duo showed great composure and experience on the final hole, closing it out to secure a well-earned 1-up victory.
Shane O’Connor and Shane Power were our first away pairing of the afternoon got off to a solid start, winning hole 2 after dropping the 1st. The match remained tight through the early stages, but Dun Laoghaire began to edge ahead. The Greystones pairing fought to stay in the match, halving several holes in a determined effort, but they were unable to bridge the gap, eventually falling to a 3&2 defeat.
Des Hickey and Ollie Packman started steadily, winning hole 3 after dropping the opener. The match remained a back-and-forth battle, with Dun Laoghaire claiming hole 4 before Greystones responded in style, winning holes 5 and 8 to move ahead. Heading into the back nine, Hickey and Packman continued to hold a narrow advantage, picking up a key win on hole 10 and following it up with another on hole 11. However, Dun Laoghaire found another gear when it mattered most, producing a strong finish with wins on holes 15, 17 and 18 to overturn the deficit and secure a 2 up victory.
Shane Nolan and Dylan Cavazza were our last pairing out and came out strong, winning hole 1 to set the tone early. They extended their lead with impressive play on holes 4 and 6, keeping Dun Laoghaire on the back foot. Their opponents fought back with wins on holes 9 and 10, but the Greystones duo stayed composed, reclaiming momentum with a clutch win on hole 11. As the match entered the closing stretch, Nolan and Cavazza remained calm, securing hole 16 to maintain their advantage. With the match still up for grabs, they held firm on hole 18 to seal a well-earned 2 up victory.
With both teams battling hard, a 3-3 draw was a fair reflection of a competitive day’s play. Greystones produced strong performances across both home and away matches, keeping them in contention as the Fitzgibbon Cup continues. The team will now wait to see how other results unfold as they push for qualification.
On a bright but windy Sunday morning, Greystones took on Bray in a fiercely contested Darcy Trophy match. With conditions perfect for golf, the stage was set for a gripping encounter between two competitive sides. Greystones fell just short in a hard-fought contest losing 3.5 to 1.5.
Dylan Holmes set the tone for Greystones with a determined display in a thrilling match that went the distance. After an early setback, losing holes 1, 5 and 6, Holmes found his rhythm, securing a crucial win on 8 to gain momentum. A dominant run on the back nine saw him take 10, 11 and 12, but his opponent fought back on 14. Refusing to back down, Holmes produced a clutch performance in the closing stretch, halving the final three holes to secure a 1-up victory and put a point on the board for Greystones.
David Byrne found himself in a tough contest from the start, losing early holes 1 and 2 before steadying the ship with a series of halved holes. A well earned win on 10 gave him hope, but his opponent responded with victories on 12, 14 and 15, sealing the match 4&3. Byrne fought hard throughout but ultimately came up against a strong opponent on the day.
Alan Condron’s match was a tense affair from the outset, with both players trading early blows. A strong stretch on the front nine saw Condron claim 4, 5 and 6, but his opponent responded well, keeping the match finely balanced. With neither player able to pull away, the contest remained tight heading into the closing holes. A late loss on 17 put Condron under pressure, but he held his nerve on 18 to secure a well earned half point for Greystones.
In the foursomes matches, Jamie Anderson and Toby Murphy were involved in a tightly contested match where momentum swung both ways. After an early exchange of holes, they found their stride mid round, winning 7, 8 and 9 to keep the match poised. Bray edged ahead on the back nine, but Anderson and Murphy continued to fight for every hole, ensuring a competitive finish. In the end, Bray secured the win 3&2.
Milo Doyle and Will O’Riordan also found themselves in a battle, with their match going deep into the back nine. After a slow start, they clawed their way back, winning 7 and 13 while halving multiple holes to keep the pressure on. Unfortunately, a late loss meant their match ended 2&1 in Bray’s favor.
That match brings an end of the Darcy Trophy group stage for Greystones. With some matches still to be played in the group, the team will now wait to see if results go their way to secure a spot in this year’s semi-finals.

Our Darcy Trophy team are back in action with an away match against Bray. It promises to be an exciting morning of competitive golf. The first tee-off is at 11:00 a.m. at Bray Golf Club, featuring three singles and two foursomes matches.
Our Fitzgibbon Cup team are in action later on in the day with a match against Dun Laoghaire. This is a home and away fixture, with the first tee-off at 2:00 p.m. at both venues.

On a dry spring Sunday with ideal golfing conditions, Greystones took on Killiney in the Fitzgibbon Cup. With three matches played at home and three away. In a fiercely contested encounter, Greystones emerged victorious with a narrow 3.5 to 2.5 win, showcasing grit and determination across the board.
Alan Keane & Colm O’Neill led the charge in the opening match. After a steady start, they found their rhythm and strung together victories on holes 5, 6 and 7 to go 3 up. Killiney responded with a win on 8, but a Greystones birdie on 9 restored their 3-up lead heading into the back nine. However, Killiney refused to go away, taking 10 and 11 to cut the deficit to one, before squaring the match on 14 and pulling ahead on 17. Down the last, with Killiney in trouble off the tee, O’Neill delivered under pressure, chipping to 3 feet to secure a crucial half-point for Greystones.
Barry O’Leary & Alan Byrne delivered a commanding performance in the second match. Solid golf saw them move 2 up through 6 before stretching their lead to 3 up at the turn. After halving 10, 11 and 12 they found another gear, winning the next three holes to close out an impressive 6&4 victory.
Ollie Packman & Des Hickey faced a tough challenge in the final home match. A slow start saw them 3 down through 6, but they responded brilliantly, winning 7 and 8 to cut the deficit to one. Killiney re-gained ground on 10, but Greystones responded with victories on 12, 14 and 16 to take a narrow lead. A half on 17th meant they were 1 up heading down the last. On the 18th, Packman placed Hickey in the first cut while Killiney found trouble deep in the trees. Des then stepped up and played a solid shot just into the greenside bunker, with the pressure on, Packman held his nerve, executing a brilliant bunker shot to six feet to secure a hard-fought 1-up victory.
The opening away match saw Tony Bishop & Fergal Duffy locked in a tightly contested battle. After a strong start, both pairs traded holes throughout the front nine, reaching the turn all square. The match remained level through 12, but setbacks on 13, 16, and 18 ultimately led to a 2 down defeat.
Shane Nolan & Peter Anderson delivered a key result for Greystones. Their match was a rollercoaster, with both sides exchanging leads. Crucial wins on 12 and 13 gave Greystones an edge and after bouncing back from a loss on 16, they closed out the match 2&1 on 17.
In the final match, Brian Murray & Colm Mulcahy started well, going 2 up early and holding a 1-up advantage through nine. They extended their lead on 10, but Killiney clawed their way back, winning 15, 17 and 18 to edge out a 2-up win.
A fantastic all-round team performance saw Greystones claim a well-earned victory 3.5 to 2.5. With confidence high, attention now turns to the next challenge, a showdown with Dun Laoghaire on March 23rd.
