Pink Day is one of the biggest days in the Ladies golf calendar. It raises much needed funds for Breast Cancer research in the country and as we know there isn’t a family that hasn’t been touched in some way or another by this disease.
Thursday 5th June was the turn of Greystones Golf Club to host a Pink Day Charity event, and with visitors from Castle, Naas, Woodbrook, Dun Laoghaire Killiney, Bunclody, Edmonstown, Arklow, Delgany, Milltown, Newlands, Powerscourt, Blainroe, Courtown, Ballymoney and Waterford Castle combined, 130 ladies went out to Play in Pink. A wonderful turnout that extended into the clubhouse and upstairs to the restaurant. The place was bedecked in pink and there was a wonderful atmosphere around the club all day. The weather too was kind with only a couple of showers that didn’t spoil the day.
Many thanks to Eileen Slamon, our events coordinator ably assisted on the day by Terri Cullen and the Ladies Committee. Thanks also to Amanda Lawless for donating Pink Prosecco for one of the prizes. The Pink Day organisation had donated prizes for the event, the much sought after brollies, towels, water bottles and snoods.
A raffle was organised on the day, and the prizes are on display in the Members bar/restaurant area.
Tickets are still on sale as the draw will not take place until Sunday 8th June. Many thanks to the men who also purchased tickets contributing to the funds. The final total raised will be published later but with the sale of mulligans, the raffle tickets and entry fees we should be sending a substantial sum to the cause.
The winners of the 18 hole competition were Jennifer Moore, Audrey Lillywhite, Aoife Dempsey and Chloe Creedon with a score of 98 points.
The 9 hole winners were Marguerite Hamill, Mary Brennan, Fidelma Power and Anne O’Reilly with a score of 39 points. Full results on the results page of the Website.
Once again, many thanks to all the competitors for making this day such a huge success.
