Playing Rights for Junior / Youth and Intermediate members of Greystones Golf Club-amended April 2015

 

Junior / Youth & Academy Associate Member’s Playing Rights – ( Class 1 – handicap of 9 or less )

 

Nominated Junior / Youth & Academy Associates who have attained a high standard of playing ability (with a playing handicap of 9 or less ( i.e. Class 1 ) will be allowed and encouraged to play in Adult competitions in order to develop their skills subject to the following conditions:

They may compete in all Club Single, Fourball and Foursome competitions, open and semi-open competitions subject to the following exclusions:-

They are not permitted to play in the following:

 President’s Prize

Captains Prize

Ladies Captain’s Prize to Men

Vice President’s Prize

Ladies & men’s Vice-Captain’s Prizes

Frank Talbot match-play

Carrinson Foursomes match-play

Glenavy

Main Hamper & Mini Hamper Competitions

Spring Lamb

 There are allowed to play in the following competitions subject to the conditions as set out:

Resident’s Cup\ Class Cup – qualifying Junior / Youth & Academy Associates may play in the singles strokes rounds but may not qualify for match play stage

Golfer of the Year – qualifying Junior / Youth & Academy Associates may play but not win first prize.

Qualifying juniors are eligible to win the Scratch Cup.

If a qualifying Junior / Youth has the best overall score in a medal competition a Junior / Youth medal will be awarded. This will not qualify a Junior / Youth to play in the Medal Final.

In the case of all other singles, four-ball, foursome and team events they qualify to play and win the prizes of the day.

 

Intermediate Associate Member’s Playing Rights

Intermediate Associate Members are entitled to play in all competitions other than on Saturdays.

 

 

 Junior & Academy Associates with a playing handicap of 18 or less and over 15 years of age.

 

Such associates may play in Adult competitions, other than Saturdays, subject to following guidelines:

They may compete in all Club Single, Fourball and Foursome competitions, open and semi-open competitions subject to the following exclusions:-

They are not permitted to play in the following:

Ladies Captain’s Prize to Men

Vice President’s Prize

Family, fun / Team Events

All juniors with a CONGU handicap can play in club team events. (Family, Bank-holidays, fun events etc)

 

 

Timesheet Guidelines for Junior, Youth & Academy Associates.

 

When playing in competitions Junior Youth & Academy Associates ( with the exception of those players playing off a handicap of 4 or less ) may be entered on the timesheet subject to the following:

 

  • Wednesday competition; they may enter name on time sheet anytime up to 1.30. After 1.30 they may only play if invited by the club/pro shop to fill up a 4 ball or a free slot. For the months of May, June, July and August they may place their name on the time sheet for Wednesday afternoon after 6.00pm on the Tuesday preceding the competition.

 

  • Saturday competition; they may only enter their name on the time sheet on the Friday preceding the competition. When a waiting list is operational on the computer they may place their name on the waiting list on the preceding Thursday

 

  • Sunday competition; they may enter the competition after 12.00. They may enter before 12.00 on the Saturday preceding the competition. When a waiting list is operational on the computer they may place their name on the waiting list on the preceding Thursday

 

  • Team competitions; In 4 person teams no more than 2 juniors may form part of the team unless playing with a parent or grandparent and in 3 person teams no more than 1 junior may form part of the team unless playing with a parent or grandparent.

 

  • Criss-crossing. The low man in the group of three must criss-cross.  If that happens to be a junior, he may criss cross with the two members.  .  If the senior member is the low man he may criss-cross with a junior.

 

( Winter Golf:  For Saturday and Sunday competitions during the months of November December and January they may not enter their name on the time sheet or waiting list. Their name can be placed on the time sheet only by contacting the pro shop after 4 pm the day before competition. )

 

  • When playing in any Adult competitions they must be accompanied by at least one adult.

 

  • They cannot be paired together in four-ball or foursome events.

 

  • They are required to pay the normal entry fee of the competition.

 

During the summer months, those players playing off a handicap of 4 or less are free to operate the timesheet without restriction, however playing rights restrictions remain as per other class 1 Junior golfers.
